Frequently Asked Questions
How long are sessions? How frequent?
Sessions are around 50 minutes and I recommend once a week as a good starting place. On a case by case basis, sessions may be spread out further or increased if there is clinical need.
What will happen during our first session?
During our first appointment, we’ll talk about what brings you to therapy and I’ll ask questions to get to know you, what you’re experiencing, and your history.
You’re also welcome to ask me any questions that you might have. I’m happy to share what I’ve noticed makes for a successful experience in therapy.
Do you take insurance?
I’m an out of network provider. While you will be responsible for the full fee at the time of the session, your health insurance may provide out of network benefits and reimburse a significant portion of your fee.
You can find out by calling your insurance and asking if they provide out of network mental health benefits, if there a deductible (certain amount paid of out of pocket) that needs to be met, and what percentage of a session fee is reimbursed. Frequently, insurances will request an invoice or “superbill” of services for reimbursement, which I’m happy to provide.
How long will it take for my goals to be met?
This varies from person to person but I will check in to make sure that you’re noticing the impact of our work together.
What if there’s something I’m not ready to talk about?
That’s okay! While I do believe in the benefit of talking about subjects that feel tempting to avoid, this is only useful when someone is feeling ready enough. You might let me know that there is something on you’re not ready to discuss and I might check in around it but I won’t demand to hear anything you’re not ready to share.
